About the role
As a Supermarket Assistant Branch Cook, you'll work in our back-of-house in one of our shops' Partner Dining Rooms, providing hot and cold food for Partners during their break times. When not in the kitchen, you'll support the wider shop floor team as a Supermarket Assistant, delivering our distinct service and passion for food.
Key Responsibilities
As a Branch Cook, you'll be responsible for:
1. Ensuring the smooth running of the kitchen with support from the management team.
2. Maintaining a clean, tidy, and safe kitchen environment.
3. Managing portion control, preparation, storage, and waste to protect profits.
4. Adhering to high food hygiene standards.
When not in the kitchen, you'll assist with:
1. Stock replenishment, ensuring shelves are full and products are correctly placed.
2. Fulfilling online customer orders for delivery.
3. Reducing wastage through proper product management.
4. Supporting shop team tasks such as checkout, Click & Collect, and on-demand orders.
5. Maintaining a safe and tidy environment with shopkeeping duties.
Essential skills/experience
* Experience as a cook in catering or hospitality.
* Passion for food and serving nutritious menus.
* Customer-focused with strong engagement skills.
* Commercial awareness to drive sales and control costs.
* Flexibility to work between kitchen and shop floor.
Desirable skills/experience
* City & Guilds 706 1 and 2 or NVQ equivalent.
* Food Hygiene Certificate Level 2.
