Department: Academic/Bath Spa University (BSU) – Manchester
Salary: £51,000
The role: We are currently seeking Lecturers to teach across a range of undergraduate levels as part of our BSc (Hons) Computing programme with our Bath Spa University partnership. We require flexibility to teach during weekdays, evenings, and weekends. Please note this role is not eligible for visa sponsorship.
Main Responsibilities
* Planning, delivering, and assessing student work to ensure learning outcomes are met.
* Developing, updating, and improving course materials.
* Using a variety of learning and teaching methods/materials.
* Actively engaging in staff development activities, peer observations, meetings, and other administrative duties.
* Keeping up to date with latest developments in your field and student support practices.
* Working towards objectives for student attendance, continuation, completion, satisfaction, and progression.
Requirements
About you:
* Hold a Master’s degree in a relevant subject area (PhD desirable).
* Have previous UK HE lecturing experience in the wider subject area.
* Demonstrate extensive knowledge of two or more of the following areas:
o Programming and software development
o Web development
o Database systems
o Cloud computing
o Networking
o Cybersecurity
o IoT and emerging technologies
o Business IT systems
o IT management
o AI and Machine Learning
o Operating Systems
o UI/UX
* Experience supervising student work and providing support and feedback.
* Experience of accurate reporting and maintaining thorough and organised student records.
* Ability to work under pressure, plan and prioritise workload to meet tight deadlines.
* Excellent communication, interpersonal, and team‑working skills.
* Ability to work with diverse groups of people.
Desirable
* Postgraduate Certificate of Academic Practice or equivalent teaching qualification, or commitment to enrol on a teaching programme during the probationary period and complete within three years, or Fellowship of HEA (or international equivalent).
* Experience designing/developing academic or professional education programmes, or equivalent.
