The WSP Client Engineering and Advisory Services group sits within our UK Rail team and provides systemic and integrated rail solutions that are user focused, operationally driven, grounded in engineering and commercially sound. The Strategy and Feasibility team collaborates with internal and external partners to develop early‑stage railway requirements into fundable projects.
Responsibilities
* Provide strategic rail advice to external and internal clients.
* Act as a central coordinating role on multi-disciplinary projects.
* Develop the rail‑focused service offering in light rail, freight and local authority sectors.
* Plan, manage and deliver tasks contributing to large projects and lead the planning, management and delivery of projects, including bidding for new work.
* Engage with clients and build a proactive network within the WSP UK and global communities to solve problems and generate new work.
Qualifications
* Extensive experience working in light rail, freight or within transport for local authorities with an understanding of legislative and funding processes that relate to rail operations and scheme development.
* Understanding across a range of rail areas such as operational planning, strategic planning, business case development and engineering feasibility.
* Strategic thinking skills with the ability to see the “big picture” while paying attention to detail.
* Professional focus with a proactive and collaborative style.
* Consultancy skills such as business development and bidding.
* Organisational, planning and project‑management skills, and stakeholder management with the ability to lead project delivery teams.
* Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
* Professionally qualified or working towards professional qualifications.
