Role: Senior Electronics Engineer
Location: Guildford
Salary: £40,000 - £80,000
Hours: 0900 to 1730, Monday to Friday. There is flexibility with hours to suit the needs of the successful candidate. Open to discussion for a hybrid position with 1-2 days remote work.
Note: All employees require BPSS vetting; employment is conditional based on this process.
The Role:
We are currently looking for a highly skilled Senior Electronics Engineer to join our rapidly expanding business and become an integral part of our team. The Senior Electronics Engineer’s goal will be to develop electronics across our product range and ensure that all tasks are achieved in a timely and efficient manner.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Design and test of electronic circuit boards - including block diagrams, component selection, schematic design, PCB layout, production file generation
2. Debugging prototype circuit boards, making use of a range of electronics test equipment
3. Integration of electronics into drone systems - working collaboratively with other team members
4. Working with production team to ensure a smooth transition to high volume production
5. Development of embedded firmware for custom circuit boards
6. Definition of requirements, research/implementation of standards, testing/certification
7. Communication with suppliers (e.g. PCB assembly companies, component manufacturers)
8. Any other related tasks
Key Skills & Experience:
* Degree in Electronics Engineering or related qualification (or several years industry experience)
* Experience using Altium and LTSpice, or similar transferable experience
* Experience designing multi-layer circuit boards, including components such as microcontrollers, DC-DC converters, FPGAs, embedded processors, motor drivers, etc.
* Thorough knowledge of PCB layout principles and best practices for high-speed signal routing
* Skills and experience debugging prototype PCBs, making use of test equipment such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, etc.
* Experience writing technical specifications and designing boards to a set of specifications
* Ability to verify design compliance against specifications
* Experience contributing to design reviews and collaborating with other engineers and non-technical staff
* Strong appreciation for EMC considerations in electronics development and ability to debug EMC related issues
* Embedded programming skills (C++)
* Experience using version control systems such as git
* FPGA development (VHDL / Verilog) experience is beneficial
* Experience developing RF PCBs is beneficial
