Assistant Technician
Location: Leighton Buzzard
Hours – 37.5 hours per week (Mon – Fri) + Overtime available

On behalf of our client, Initivo Consultancy, we are looking for a motivated Assistant Technician to join our Building Pathology team. This developmental role offers hands-on training and experience in the construction industry, from operating access plant and sampling materials to analysing data and supporting technical reporting.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with a technical background who is keen to build their career through training, mentorship, and real project experience.
What you'll do
* Manage and maintain technical equipment, tools, and materials
* Assist with planning rotas, resources, and survey preparations
* Support on-site investigations, including access plant operation, coring, and data gathering
* Prepare and organise samples for laboratory testing
* Contribute to technical reports and data presentation
* Ensure health, safety, and environmental standards are followed
* Collaborate closely with consultants, senior staff, and project teams
What we're looking for
* Level 2–3 qualification (or equivalent experience) in construction, engineering, design & technology, or related discipline
* Basic knowledge of building materials, construction methods, and investigative techniques
* Strong organisational skills with attention to detail
* Good written and verbal communication skills
* Confidence using hand tools and measuring equipment
* Team player with a positive, proactive attitude
* Flexibility to work on-site, in the office, and occasionally outside regular hours
* Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel
