Animal Care Lecturer Position
We’re seeking two dedicated Animal Care Lecturers to teach across Levels 1–3 and 3–4. The Lecturer will coordinate designated study programme delivery activities, including high-quality teaching, managing daily operational issues, exams, and timetabling. The role involves maintaining consistency across sites and inspiring students through outstanding teaching that challenges them to excel.
Lecturers should be passionate about their subject and enthusiastic about developing students' English, Maths, and employability skills. Regular target setting and progress monitoring are essential to ensure successful student outcomes.
Main Responsibilities and Duties:
The following is an indication of the main priorities as directed by senior management, not an exhaustive list:
1. Deliver high-quality teaching: Prepare materials, schemes of work, and lesson plans; develop curricula; assess student work; monitor progress; maintain a positive learning environment with adherence to safeguarding, equal opportunities, and health and safety policies.
2. Manage course operations: Communicate effectively, solve problems, manage timetables, provide cover, coordinate work experience and enrichment activities, liaise with departments, and ensure compliance and consistency across sites.
3. Support recruitment and enrolment: Assist in selecting candidates, manage enrolment procedures, and organize induction programmes.
4. Student support: Conduct meetings, set SMART targets, assist with UCAS references, support pastoral needs, and liaise with college services.
5. Monitor student progress: Track attendance, results, and course performance; develop action plans as needed.
6. Promote English and Maths: Support provision through class and one-to-one sessions, monitoring attendance and student progress.
7. Attend meetings and events: Participate in staff meetings, parent evenings, marketing events, and CPD activities; coordinate parent consultations.
8. Develop courses and materials: Collaborate with colleagues, participate in peer observation, and mentor new lecturers.
9. Department administration: Mark registers, update records, produce reports, and manage resources.
10. Participate in quality assurance: Engage in verification, moderation, course reviews, and SARs. SPS points 5–8 lecturers will also: undertake internal verification, coordinate action plans, support curriculum development, monitor UCAS references, and liaise with higher education institutions.
