As part of a consortium, Balfour Beatty has been selected by BP to construct a fully integrated gas-fired power station with carbon capture and storage, supporting Teesside’s goal to become the UK’s first decarbonised industrial cluster.
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Logistics Manager to contribute to the Net Zero Teesside project based at our new site in Redcar.
Role Purpose
* Manage and lead the BBK project logistics requirements, working inclusively with the wider BB logistics team to ensure a coordinated approach.
* Control and manage project logistics, advising Project Managers to deliver project sections effectively.
* Manage contractors and suppliers, ensuring successful site logistics management.
* Meet customer specifications regarding safety, quality, and timelines, ensuring full compliance with project objectives.
What you'll be doing
* Oversee daily project logistics to support construction activities.
* Manage budget, costs, and resource utilization in line with contractual agreements.
* Procure packages to meet logistical needs with supply chain partners.
* Coordinate large or complex shipments safely and efficiently, considering customer requirements.
* Conduct safety and environment tours as per the H&S plan.
* Lead risk reviews and update the Project Risk Register.
* Manage subcontractors, monitor progress, and provide instructions to meet contractual targets.
* Develop short-term programs aligned with overall project timelines.
* Create detailed logistical plans to ensure timely delivery of materials and resources.
* Establish processes for managing logistics items, including KPIs.
* Monitor quality, stock levels, delivery times, and transport costs.
* Conduct site audits and implement improvements.
* Implement systems to maintain logistics quality.
* Assist in producing operational programs reflecting the construction schedule.
* Lead weekly team meetings to review site performance.
Who we're looking for
* Proven experience managing logistics in construction, preferably in Oil & Gas.
* Experience with large-scale, complex projects.
* Knowledge of transportation logistics, offloading, and distribution of large goods.
* CSCS and SMSTS qualifications; willingness to become First Aid qualified.
* Decisive, solution-oriented, with strong presentation skills.
* Proficient in Microsoft Office.
* Strong leadership skills and experience managing multidisciplinary teams.
* Understanding of accident investigation, health & safety legislation, and temporary works regulations.
* Experience with Inspection & Test Plans and target setting within budgets.
* Ability to produce and track realistic programs and manage project records for cost recovery.
