Shift Engineer Contract: Banking Location: Clydebank, G81 2LD Hours of work: 41 Contract Type: Permanent We are seeking a skilled Shift Engineer to deliver high-quality electrical and mechanical services across critical engineering environments on a continental shift rota. This role requires a proactive engineer who can work independently, ensuring maintenance, repairs, installations and performance checks are completed to exacting standards. Job Description You will act as a key technical presence on site, taking responsibility for both planned and reactive tasks, overseeing contractors, and ensuring all works meet performance, safety and compliance expectations. Working closely with your supervisor and manager, you will support operations across two data centres while representing the company professionally to all clients. Working Pattern: 28-day rota comprising 14 shifts (7 days and 7 nights) Week 1: 4 night shifts Week 2: 6 day shifts Week 3: 1 day shift and 3 night shifts Week 4: Off Key Responsibilities Carry out electrical PPM, reactive and proactive maintenance within agreed timeframes. Undertake activities on critical assets and systems within critical engineering environments. Act as the lone “custodian” engineer across two data centres. Escort and monitor subcontractors to ensure high standards of workmanship. Ensure equipment operates to required performance criteria. Maintain equipment and surrounding areas to agreed company standards. Deliver a professional service that ensures customer satisfaction. Evaluate equipment performance and ensure correct servicing and maintenance is carried out. Take a proactive approach to client liaison, escalating concerns where needed. Professional and Personal Competencies/Qualifications Qualified electrician - relevant qualifications. 17th Edition qualification. Any other relevant electrical trade qualifications. Proven experience delivering electrical building services. Experience working within critical or high-priority engineering environments (desirable based on duties). Must hold a valid UK driving licence. Additional Information Continental shift pattern. Some overtime available. No call-out requirement. Training available.
