We are seeking a committed and safety-conscious Refuse Driver (HGV) to join our clients frontline waste and environmental services team. This is an essential role in delivering high-quality waste collection and disposal services across Plymouth, contributing to a more sustainable and environmentally responsible city. Key Responsibilities: * Operate a range of waste collection vehicles (up to HGV Class 1 and 2, and 3.5 tonnes). * Ensure safe, efficient, and compliant transportation of waste materials. * Carry out legally required vehicle checks and maintain safe operation of specialist equipment. * Supervise and support collection crews, ensuring health, safety, and welfare at all times. * Ensure compliance with Operator Licence (O Licence) responsibilities, including tachograph and working time regulations. * Promote excellent customer service and uphold the values and reputation of Plymouth City Council. * Ensure safe working practices on all collection rounds and during visits to controlled sites (e.g., refuse transfer stations). * Report near misses and incidents in accordance with safety protocols. Requirements: * Category C or CE driving licence with a valid Driver CPC qualification. * Proven knowledge of road safety, tachograph regulations, and the Highway Code. * Experience operating waste or heavy goods vehicles preferred. * Strong awareness of health and safety practices. * Ability to work collaboratively and productively with crew members. * Commitment to delivering a high standard of public service. Performance Expectations: * Full compliance with road and operator licence legislation. * Completion of collection routes efficiently and effectively. * Prompt and accurate incident and near-miss reporting. * No reportable accidents and adherence to all workplace safety standards.
