We have a fantastic opportunity for an enthusiastic and passionate Shop Manager, who loves working with people, to work 37.5 hours (5 days) per week on a 6 month Fixed Term contract.
Located in Barry (High Street), our well-established shop is friendly and is at the heart of the local community.
About the Role
As a Shop Manager, you will be responsible for delivering outstanding customer service, maintaining excellent shop standards, and executing strong and creative visual merchandising. You will drive donated stock to the shop floor, oversee selection and pricing, and work with a team of staff and volunteers.
The opening hours are Monday to Saturday 9.00am to 5.00pm.
About You
We are looking for someone with previous management and retail experience who can deliver targets and objectives. You will be commercially aware, highly organised, and driven to provide an excellent customer and donor experience through positive interactions and a well merchandised shop floor.
You will lead a paid Deputy Shop Manager and be responsible for recruiting, motivating, and growing the volunteer team that is crucial to the shop’s operation. We give our Shop Managers autonomy and expect them to take initiative, take responsibility for performance, and demonstrate compassion for colleagues, volunteers, and supporters.

About our Retail Department
Ty Hafan currently operates 17 charity shops, geographically spread from Cardigan in the west of Wales to Cwmbran in the east. Our dedicated Retail team plays a key role in raising essential funds to enable Ty Hafan’s care provision through hospice and community programmes which support life‑limited children and their families in Wales. We strive to be an innovative, supportive, and agile team, working collectively to deliver ambitious goals.
Our retail network raises money for the charity from the sale of donated goods (mainly clothing, bric‑a‑brac and household goods) to the general public, a small amount of bought‑in new goods, and the sale of tickets for the charity’s Crackerjackpot weekly lottery. Income is also generated from cash donations, gift aid on donated goods and the sale of waste clothing and household goods to recycling merchants. Each salaried Shop Manager is supported by 1 or 2 salaried Deputies and/or a salaried Sales Assistant and a team of volunteers.
