Kennel Assistant – Stray Dog Care
Location: Baldock (supporting stray dogs across the Home Counties)
Pay: £12.60 per hour
Contract: Part-Time | Temp-to-Perm
Shift Pattern (rotating):
• Week 1: Saturday, Sunday, Monday
• Week 2: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday
Are you passionate about helping stray and unwanted dogs?
We are recruiting a Kennel Assistant for an expanding organisation that specialises in the collection, care and rehoming of stray dogs. This is a rewarding hands-on role where you’ll directly support the welfare of dogs in need.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Maintain cleanliness and hygiene of kennel facilities
2. Transport dogs to and from veterinary appointments
3. Assist with temperament testing and behaviour assessments (training provided)
4. Administer treatments and monitor animal welfare
5. Work with partner organisations to rehome suitable stray dogs
6. Support animal handlers and veterinary professionals
7. Maintain accurate records and documentation
Requirements:
8. Experience in kennels or animal care
9. Excellent dog-handling skills and a calm, confident approach
10. Knowledge of canine first aid (desirable)
11. Caring and compassionate attitude
12. Ability to work as part of a team
13. Competent with IT systems and attention to detail
14. Animal care qualifications (advantageous but not essential)
15. Full UK driving licence (held for 2+ years, age 22+ for insurance)
16. Company van provided when driving is required
