Overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic qualified Qualified CBT Psychological Therapist to become part of the integrated mental health and justice pathway working within the 3 local prisons across Norfolk. You will be welcomed into the prison IAPT services which is a small, highly experienced and supportive team with enthusiasm to make a difference. Therapeutic modalities offered within the service include CBT, CAT, counselling and EMDR. The post holder will have excellent therapeutic skills, cultural competency and be able to be responsive and flexible in working within the busy prison environment. You will be working within a unique environment providing therapeutic assessment and treatment interventions to the prison population, based at HMP Wayland, HMP Norwich and HMP Bure. The role is challenging yet rewarding, and you will be engaging with individuals who have previously not connected positively with mental health services. It is an opportunity to empower them with skills that can equip them to establish and sustain a fulfilling life on their release back into the community. You will be given autonomy to manage your individual caseload, with support and expertise from the wider team readily available. Partnership working is essential within the prison environment to ensure a holistic approach to the care of our service users. You will be liaising with our prison services, drug and alcohol services, mental health teams and general medical teams to ensure that every aspect of our service users’ health is considered to achieve positive outcomes for them.
Responsibilities
* Provide therapeutic assessment and treatment interventions to the prison population within the integrated mental health and justice pathway.
* Work within the prison IAPT service based at HMP Wayland, HMP Norwich and HMP Bure.
* Engage with individuals who have previously not connected positively with mental health services and empower them with skills for release back into the community.
* Manage an autonomous individual caseload with support from the wider team.
* Collaborate in partnership with prison services, drug and alcohol services, mental health teams and general medical teams to ensure holistic care.
Qualifications & Skills
* Qualified CBT Psychological Therapist with therapeutic modalities including CBT, CAT, counselling and EMDR.
* Excellent therapeutic skills and cultural competency; able to be responsive and flexible in a busy prison environment.
* Experience or ability to work across a multi-site setting (HMP Wayland, HMP Norwich, HMP Bure) and travel between sites where required.
Additional Information
The ability to drive and travel independently is essential as this role is based across 3 prisons and some sites are not accessible by public transport.
