The Managing Surveyor will oversee the commercial performance of a portfolio of projects, ensuring cost control, contract compliance, risk management, and accurate forecasting. The role includes supervising project QS teams, supporting pre‑construction activities, and contributing to business performance by driving best‑practice commercial processes across the business.
Responsibilities
* Lead the commercial delivery of multiple construction projects from procurement through to final account.
* Prepare, review, and manage cost plans, budgets, CVRs, forecasts, and cashflow projections.
* Monitor and report on project profitability, identifying risks and opportunities.
* Ensure timely submission and agreement of valuations, variations, and compensation events.
* Oversee subcontract procurement, tender analysis, negotiation, and package finalisation.
* Ensure subcontractor accounts are managed effectively including interim payments and final accounts.
* Ensure adherence to contract conditions (JCT, NEC, and framework agreements).
* Implement and maintain company commercial procedures and governance.
Qualifications
* Proven experience as a Senior/Managing Quantity Surveyor within a main contractor environment.
* Strong working knowledge of JCT and NEC forms of contract.
* Track record of delivering projects £5m‑£50m+.
* Excellent financial acumen, reporting capability, and attention to detail.
* Strong leadership, communication, and negotiation skills.
