The BHI Group is seeking to recruit an experienced and motivated Pallet Network Manager to join our growing operation.
The BHI Group comprises several companies, including Hallam Express Ltd and 4S Distribution Ltd, both of which are leading transport and distribution providers. We offer next-day palletised distribution throughout the UK, alongside warehousing solutions tailored to our customers' needs.
Operating from a 24-hour control centre, we schedule and manage vehicle movements to meet daily operational demands, working closely with our customers and partner depots. This collaborative approach ensures consistent, reliable, and seamless deliveries across the network.

Following our move to new bigger premises in Rotherham (S60 1FB) to support future growth, we are now looking to strengthen our team with the appointment of a Pallet Network Manager.
The Role
The successful candidate will play a crucial role in coordinating daily network operation, ensuring the efficient, compliant, and cost-effective movement of inbound and outbound freight across The Pallet Network (TPN).
Job Purpose
To manage and coordinate the daily movement of vehicles, ensuring timely deliveries while maintaining full compliance with transport legislation, company procedures, and TPN audit standards. The role involves close liaison with drivers, internal teams, customers, and partner depots to maintain operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
* Oversee the daily operation of the network fleet, drivers, and freight in line with agreed transport plans
* Act as the main point of contact for all network-related activities, both internally and externally
* Ensure full compliance with transport legislation, company procedures, and TPN audit requirements
* Manage and motivate teams to achieve efficient scanning, checking, and movement of freight
* Build and maintain strong working relationships with customers, partner depots, and internal teams
* Monitor and drive network KPI performance, supporting continuous improvement
* Ensure daily vehicle checks, defect reporting, cleanliness, and roadworthiness prior to departure
* Manage legal compliance including tachograph rules, driver infringements, and tracking systems
* Investigate and report all vehicle accidents and incidents thoroughly
* Monitor fleet compliance and maintenance schedules, adjusting resources to maximise utilisation
* Organise and supervise inbound and outbound freight scanning and checking
* Manage drivers through effective communication, compliance monitoring, tracking systems, and debriefs
* Work closely with the warehouse team to coordinate customer and network freight
* Plan and manage network collections to maximise efficiency and compliance
* Support customer service by managing delivery queries, ETAs, and issue resolution
* Assist partner depots with queries, complaints, and non-conformances
* Maintain accurate records of operational communications and customer correspondence
* Proactively suggest and implement improvements to enhance operational performance
* Undertake additional duties as required
Requirements
* Full UK driving licence (HGV licence advantageous)
* Strong organisational skills with the ability to multitask and prioritise effectively
* Proficient in IT systems including Excel, Word, and Outlook
* Previous experience in transport planning, networks or logistics
* Excellent communication skills with the ability to liaise confidently with customers and colleagues
