We have an opportunity for Electrical Technicians to join our team. We are recruiting for technicians across various departments within Liberty Steel. These include downstream processes and our mill, with some roles covering day shifts and others covering days and nights.
As an Electrical Technician, you will be part of a multi-disciplined diagnostic team responding to breakdowns and completing planned maintenance work. Your role will support the department's Shift Managers within production and engineering to ensure safety, quality, and production plans are met.

The Role of the Electrical Technicians
* The team may be requested to assist across-site as required to support business objectives. Individuals will be expected to work in all departments and gain a working knowledge of them, using the experience of the local team.
* Report to the Team Leader Engineering on all matters regarding the maintenance and operation of plant and equipment.
* Self-organise and prioritise work requirements, managing these accordingly and as directed by the team leader, section engineer, or shift manager.
* Assist in developing maintenance practices and procedures to improve and maintain plant and equipment.
* Pick up work, book out spares, and keep records of work via CMMS, updating the team or team leader on issues.
* Ensure all legal requirements relating to systems are met and records are kept.
* Ensure all team members adhere to procedures and working systems, reporting any changes that affect standards.
* Involve in creating RA SWP & JTDs.
* Complete point-of-work risk assessments.
* Provide continuity of site coverage during sickness and holidays.
* Maintain equipment to standard, liaising with engineering team members as required.
* Reduce/eliminate waste from department operations.
* Assist in all aspects of the company as requested.
* Deputise for the Team Leader, supervise/organise a multi-skilled workforce, and issue permits.
* Undertake on-the-job training and learn new skills.
* Participate in plant improvement projects.
Requirements of the Electrical Technician
* A recognised engineering apprenticeship (preferably HNC, but minimum ONC level or equivalent).
* Knowledge and experience of industrial systems such as hydraulic systems, pumps, drives, gearboxes, heavy machinery, water cooling, material handling, dust extraction, robotics, PLCs, vacuum systems, AC & DC circuits.
* A self-starting individual capable of leading a small team.
* Ability to work with cross-functional groups.
* Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to fault find to root cause and rectify issues.
* Experience working under permit systems or knowledge of permit operations.
* A customer-focused attitude with good prioritisation skills.
