As we prepare for a significant phase of philanthropic growth, we are looking for a Deputy Director of Philanthropy to play a key role in securing transformational support and strengthening the foundations for long-term fundraising success.
Working closely with the Director of Philanthropy and Alumni Engagement, you will combine frontline fundraising with leadership, planning, and operational oversight. This is a senior, hands-on role with genuine influence.

What you will be responsible for:
* Managing and developing relationships with major donors and prospects in the UK and internationally
* Soliciting significant gifts through thoughtful cultivation, clear proposals, and confident asks
* Leading strong stewardship so donors feel informed, valued, and connected over time
* Contributing to multi-year fundraising strategy, campaign planning, and financial forecasting
* Line-managing and supporting members of the philanthropy team, helping to build a high-performing and inclusive culture
* Strengthening systems, processes, and use of CRM data to support effective fundraising
* Deputising for the Director as required in meetings, events, and senior-level engagement
* Supporting legacy fundraising activity, including stewardship of known pledgers
What we are looking for:
You do not need to come from Cambridge or even from higher education. We are interested in candidates who bring strong major gifts experience and sound judgement.
You are likely to have:
* A proven track record of securing five- and six-figure gifts, and experience with complex donor relationships
* Confidence working with senior stakeholders and volunteers
* Experience leading or mentoring colleagues, with an inclusive and supportive management style
* Strong written communication skills, particularly in proposals and donor-facing materials
* The ability to balance strategic thinking with hands-on delivery
* Confidence using CRM systems and data to inform fundraising activity

Practical details
* Salary: £58,225–£69,487, depending on experience
* Full-time role, 35 hours per week
