Job Description

Step into a role that places you at the heart of metocean operations and offshore survey work. As a Survey Engineer you will contribute to the successful delivery of complex marine projects while developing your technical capability and professional confidence. This position offers the chance to work with advanced metocean equipment, support offshore campaigns and play an active part in project planning and execution. Once capable, you will also begin to guide graduate colleagues as they take their first steps in the discipline.

You will join a team that works closely with operations and project management to deliver high quality data and reliable offshore services for clients. The role combines hands on fieldwork with meaningful responsibility in the office, giving you the opportunity to grow your skills across equipment management, survey support, reporting and client interaction. If you are ready for a career that blends technical challenge with offshore adventure, this position offers a rewarding path forward.

Your role and responsibilities:

1. Use, maintain and troubleshoot metocean equipment including wave buoys, tide gauges and meteorological stations
2. Keep accurate equipment records and ensure all assets are handled with care
3. Support and eventually supervise survey work, including mobilisation and demobilisation
4. Mentor newer team members in survey tasks and safe working practices
5. Identify safe working methods and carry out dynamic risk assessments
6. Help improve survey practices and report safety observations
7. Assist project managers with planning survey operations and liaising with vessel crews
8. Support decisions on equipment and mooring purchases
9. Complete required health, safety, quality and environmental documentation
10. Take responsibility for small projects or act as a deputy on larger ones
11. Maintain routine client communication
12. Provide technical and operational input for tendering
13. Carry out office RCMP duty, including out of hours
14. Troubleshoot operational issues and look for ways to improve safety and efficiency
15. Write and review operational, technical and data analysis reports
16. Peer review survey documentation and log sheets
17. Process datasets, create clear data displays and compare results with other sources
18. Follow company health, safety and quality systems and minimise environmental impact
19. Maintain a positive and professional approach to work and support colleagues

What you’ll need to thrive in this role:

20. A bachelor’s degree in oceanography, science, instrumentation, engineering, electrical or mechanical disciplines or an equivalent vocational qualification
21. At least one year of relevant experience in a technical or operational discipline
22. Intermediate knowledge of oceanographic and metocean principles
23. Intermediate capability in marine operational planning
24. Intermediate skills in data acquisition and data analysis

32. Proficiency in English
33. Ability to travel offshore for approximately seventy to one hundred days per year, including time away during weekdays and weekends
34. Ability to provide out of hours support when required
35. Physical and medical fitness suitable for offshore work
36. A positive and professional attitude toward colleagues, clients and work tasks
37. Willingness to support teamwork and take on additional duties when needed
38. Commitment to high standards of health, safety and environmental performance
39. Ability to use company reporting platforms for safety observations and incident reporting
