An exciting opportunity has arisen for a qualified Pharmacy Technician looking to develop their skills in Primary Care.
Working under the employment of Red Kite Health solutions CIC, you will be an integral part of a GP, cluster-based team operating across South Powys. You will be responsible for supporting the organisation with our mission to improve the health and wellbeing of the population in South Powys by maximising safe, cost-effective best practice in prescribing, that enhances the quality of patient care.
Main duties of the job
Working under the direction of Red Kite CIC, the GP practices and supported by a basePharmacist, the successful applicant will help patients/clinicians and otheragencies to get the best from their medicines by undertaking medicines reconciliation in line with approved protocols, promotion of repeat dispensing and online ordering, minimising clinical risk, and aiming to reduce medicines waste as a part of a focused, cluster-based team.
You will be required to undertake work across the cluster-practices, which primarily will be carried out remotely butmay, on occasion, require some travel within the cluster area for training and/or business needs.

Job responsibilities
Job Summary:
The purpose of the Pharmacy Technician role is to work as part of a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals, based within GP practice, to support the delivery of safe, effective, andefficient systems for medicines optimisation, repeat prescribing, reducingmedicine waste and maximising patient outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
* Undertake medicinesreconciliation in line with practice protocols and standard operatingprocedures to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of repeat prescriptions
* To timely action medication changes inaccordance with Practice Protocols and to update Patients medical records /prescribing accordingly.
* Provide advice andinformation to GPs, staff, outside agencies and patients to support theimprovement of prescribing safety, quality, cost-effectiveness, and theappropriate use of medicines to get the best outcomes for patients, eitherface-to-face or over the telephone
* To support and coach administrative staffinvolved in the preparation of repeat prescriptions to ensure that PracticePolices and Protocols are adhered to.
* To contribute to the development andimplementation of a Medicines Management Policy to support the achievement ofthe Practices prescribing Quality and Financial Targets across the cluster
* To contribute to the review and development ofRepeat Prescribing Protocols / Standard Operating Procedures to improve theefficiency and effectiveness of Repeat Prescribing systems.
* To provide advice to GPs, staff, outsideagencies and patients face-to-face or over the telephone, with regards tochanges to prescribing that support the improvement of prescribing safety, quality,and cost effectiveness.
* To amend Patients prescribing records inaccordance with Practice Protocols to support safe and cost-effectiveprescribing.
* To take a proactive approach to the safehandling of prescriptions, including assessment of risk and makingrecommendations for improvement.
* To contribute to SEAs where medicinesmanagement is a central factor
* To respond to medication queries from Patientsand Staff in a professional manner, referring to the appropriate GP inaccordance with Practice Protocols.
* To advise on the sourcing and safe managementof medicines as appropriate.
* To assist in the control of medicine stockswithin the Practice.
* To liaise with otheragencies/colleagues/patients with regards to current advice where appropriate
* Contribute to the provision of safeand effective pharmacy projects across the cluster
* Participate in medication audits andsupporting recall
* Assist in the monitoring andmanagement of prescribing budgets and the preparation of evidence-basedresources and information that support cost-effective prescribing.

Qualifications
* NVQ Level 3 in Pharmacy Services or equivalent
* Registration as a Pharmacy Technician with General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC)
* Medicines Management role in the community/hospital/primary care
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
* Knowledge of pharmacy procedures
* Understanding of medicines legislation and ethics
* Knowledge of diversity issues and ability to work in non-discriminatory way
* IT skills including MS Word and Excel
* An understanding, acceptance, and adherence to the need for strict confidentiality
* Able to work under pressure.
