Technical Project Manager
Location: Cheltenham - Hybrid
Salary: Up to £75,000 + £8,000 car allowance
Contract: Fixed-term contract (circa 18 months)
Our client, a leading organisation within the industrial and energy transition space, is seeking a Technical Project Manager to lead the delivery of a new showcase boiler house project at its Cheltenham site.
This is a hands-on, site-based role focused on the technical execution and delivery of a complex construction and engineering programme, from early concept through to commissioning. You’ll play a key role in delivering a high-profile project with strong visibility across senior stakeholders.
What you’ll do
Take full ownership of the project lifecycle, from concept and design through to build, commissioning, and handover
Coordinate and manage external contractors, including electrical, M&E, lifting and logistics partners
Lead and align a broad internal project team across engineering, R&D, facilities, maintenance, H&S, finance, sustainability, and international stakeholders
Maintain a daily on-site presence, ensuring safe, compliant, and efficient delivery
Act as the key point of accountability for contractor performance, quality, and delivery
Manage health & safety on site, ensuring full compliance with CDM requirements
Control project budgets, track spend, and report variances clearly to senior leadership
Support commissioning activities and ensure a smooth transition into operational use
Flex working hours where required, including potential weekend working to meet critical milestones
You’ll work closely with senior leaders and technical specialists to ensure the project delivers real value, not just progress updates.
What we’re looking for
Strong electrical competence, particularly around medium voltage (3-phase high voltage) systems
Mechanical knowledge within industrial steam systems
Proven experience working under CDM regulations
A track record of delivering complex, enterprise-scale construction or new-site projects
Strong contractor management capability, with confidence holding suppliers to account on site
Experience working in live, operational environments rather than purely office-based roles
The ability to add value through challenge, problem-solving, and technical insight
The ideal candidate will be delivery-focused, commercially aware, and comfortable operating on site in a fast-paced, technically demanding environment. This role suits someone who enjoys being embedded in the detail and driving outcomes, rather than simply coordinating timelines.
Why join?
High-profile, technically interesting project with real business impact
Fixed-term role with competitive salary and car allowance
Opportunity to work closely with senior stakeholders and specialist engineering teams
Hands-on ownership of a full cradle-to-grave delivery programme
