The Finance Business Partner (FBP) works 'in the business' with responsibility to provide financial analysis and insight to help develop understanding of the financial performance of the department, challenge ingrained thinking and be a catalyst for change.
Reporting to the Lead Financial Business Partner, this role uses financial expertise, a deep business knowledge of the issues and risks that could impact upon financial performance, and possess great communication and influencing skills to enable and support:
A departmental focus on identifying and mitigating future business risk.
Improved understanding of budget and actual spend compared to budget and actual outputs.
The development and provision of financial analysis (routine, ad hoc and deep dive) to enable departmental managers to assess the effectiveness of strategies employed to deliver corporate plan goals.
Identification and quantification of future opportunities and their effective and efficient prioritisation and delivery.
The Role: Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities
The Finance Business Partner will:
Develop and maintain a deep business knowledge to understand business objectives, strategies and risks to delivery and can quantify the financial impacts of these.
Use financial expertise to understand and communicate business performance monthly, through the analytical review of the month end and year to date results.
Understanding the root cause of issues and working with colleagues to develop operational KPI's and action plans that deliver the required financial performance for the full year.
Prepare the Annual Business Plan inputs and Mid-Year Forecast analysis for review and manage the process to completion and sign off.
Understand and update strategic and operational risks as required, ensuring that potential financial risks are understood and quantified.
Respond to routine and ad hoc queries from finance colleagues to meet the timescales required.
Develop new analysis and insight as required, to influence, support and improve customer decision making.
Develop options appraisals for potential decisions, identifying risks associated with each potential decisions and evaluating the costs and benefits of different options.
Working collaboratively, providing technical expertise and advice to colleagues.
Support the development of new strategies and the creation of breakthrough thinking in others.
Champion the consistent application of financial policies and procedures across the organisation
Be the finance representative for Projects
Support the development of financial literacy of non-financial colleagues to assist in the understanding of financial performance.
Work with other Finance Business Partners to drive continuous improvement across the business.
Qualifications
Qualified Chartered Accountant (ACA/ACCA)
