We are recruiting on behalf of a well-established consultancy and project delivery business within the construction and built environment sector, seeking an experienced Senior Buyer to join their Manchester-based team.
This is a key role supporting the procurement of materials, subcontract packages, and specialist services across a portfolio of high-value projects.
The Company (Client Overview)
Our client operates across the construction, infrastructure, and property sectors, delivering professional services on complex projects throughout the UK. Their work includes commercial developments, public-sector schemes, and technically challenging refurbishment and regeneration projects. They are recognised for strong supplier relationships, robust governance, and a collaborative approach to project delivery.
The Role
As Senior Buyer, you will take responsibility for managing procurement activities from pre-contract through to delivery, ensuring value, compliance, and timely supply across multiple projects.
Key responsibilities
* Leading procurement strategies for materials, plant, and subcontract packages
* Managing supplier and subcontractor relationships, negotiations, and performance
* Preparing and issuing tender enquiries and analysing returns
* Ensuring procurement activities align with project budgets and programmes
* Working closely with commercial, project, and site teams
* Monitoring market trends, pricing, and supply-chain risks
* Supporting and mentoring junior procurement team members
About You
* Proven experience as a Senior Buyer or Buyer within construction or related sectors
* Strong knowledge of procurement processes, contracts, and supply-chain management
* Experience working on commercial, infrastructure, or public-sector projects
* Excellent negotiation and stakeholder management skills
* A proactive, commercially astute approach
* Relevant qualifications (CIPS or similar) - desirable but not essential
