FACULTY LEAD FOR COMMUNICATIONS (ENGLISH & MEDIA)
Salary: MPS/UPS+ TLR1a (£17,216) or Lead Practitioner 12 (£68,233) depending on skills and experience of the successful candidate.
We are seeking an enthusiastic and well‑qualified English teacher to lead the English and Media Departments as Head of Faculty from September 2026.
Role Overview
As Faculty Lead, you will bring your vision for teaching and learning into practice, supported by an able team of staff. You will work closely with the Senior Leader to create an engaging and challenging curriculum for students of all abilities across all subjects, model high‑quality teaching practice, and inspire others through effective and exciting lessons. A bespoke CPD programme will be tailored to meet your and the faculty’s needs.
Responsibilities
* Lead the English and Media Departments, working closely with the Senior Leader to design and deliver a curriculum that meets the needs of all students.
* Model best teaching practice and inspire staff through the delivery of engaging lessons.
* Develop and implement personalised CPD programmes and learning walks.
* Manage a faculty team, coordinating teaching timetables, resources and support structures.
* Support safeguarding and promote the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults.
Qualifications
* Qualified teacher in English with specialist expertise in English Literature, Media or related subjects.
* Evidence of effective curriculum design and implementation in a secondary school setting.
* Strong leadership experience and ability to develop and support teaching staff.
* Commitment to safeguarding and best practice in child protection.
* Excellent communication, organisational and interpersonal skills.
