We are recruiting Additional Learning Support Officers to join our Centre of Excellence SEND. (Full-time or part-time contracts available)
Salary: £24,484 - £25,674 per annum, pro rata depending on contract type (FTC)
We are seeking dedicated and motivated individuals to join our award-winning team as an Additional Learning Support Officer. This role involves supporting students with additional learning needs, ensuring they have equal access to education and the opportunity to reach their full potential.
The Role
You will provide support for students with complex needs, enabling their access to the full College provision.
1. Provide one-to-one support to students with additional learning needs, including those with disabilities, learning difficulties, or special educational needs.
2. Collaborate with teaching staff to create inclusive learning environments and adapt teaching materials as necessary.
3. Assist in preparing materials, equipment, and assistive technology.
4. Administer medication and carry out routines appropriate to individual needs.
5. Promote inclusive learning experiences throughout the College.
6. Develop communication strategies to help students express themselves effectively and ensure their views are understood.
Stephanie Firth, our Director of SEND, states that our ALS department is looking for committed SEND professionals eager to make a difference and support our students to thrive in a fully inclusive environment.
Key Responsibilities
1. Provide support to students with SEND across all college activities, including work placements, enrichment, and external visits.
2. Support students' needs, welfare, and social well-being during college hours.
3. Assist students in accessing facilities within the College, during work placements, and external visits.
Requirements
* Previous experience in a similar role or relevant educational/caring setting is advantageous but not essential.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and adapt communication styles.
* Commitment to promoting equality of opportunity.
* Minimum Level 2 in English and Maths (Grade 4/C at GCSE).
