A welcoming primary school in Sheffield is recruiting an experienced SENCO to lead the school’s SEND strategy from January 2026. The appointed SENCO will take ownership of day-to-day casework while also driving whole-school improvement in inclusion. As SENCO you will line-manage support staff, refine provision maps and ensure statutory processes are fulfilled. Responsibilities Lead the development and implementation of the school’s SEND strategy and graduated response. Coordinate assessments, referrals and statutory reviews ensuring timely, compliant practice. Design, oversee and evaluate intervention programmes that accelerate pupil progress. Build staff capacity through focused CPD and coaching, improving inclusive classroom approaches. Maintain clear and sensitive communication with families and multi-agency partners. Person specification Qualified teacher status with proven SEND coordination experience and leadership capability. Thorough knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice, statutory processes and effective interventions. Skilled at analysing data and using outcomes to shape provision and resource allocation. Strong communicator, able to work compassionately with families and professionally with external agencies. Available to begin January 2026 and to be based in Sheffield.
