Teaching Assistant
Permanent Position
Start Date: September 2025
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join our team from September 2025.
Salary: Grade 4, Point 3 (£24,690 FTE)
Actual Salary: £17,832 (based on term-time working)
Contract Type: Permanent
If shortlisted for interview, you will be required to complete an application form prior to attending. Shortlisting will begin on 26 August 2025.
Working Hours: 8.15am to 3.15pm Monday to Friday (4.15pm finish every other Wednesday for Staff Training).
Working Days: Monday to Friday, term time only (39 weeks)
The Role
To support the Assistant Headteacher – Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Co-ordinator (SENDCo), the Deputy SENDCo, and the Subject Teachers in ensuring access to the curriculum for a group of students with special educational needs and disabilities.
Accountable to
* Assistant Headteacher - SENDCo, Deputy SENDCo, Class Teachers
Safeguarding
To be familiar with school policies, in particular safeguarding procedures, and promote the welfare of children.
Key Responsibilities
* Participate in the planning of activities for students, including delivering interventions.
* Assist in preparing and adapting teaching materials and equipment to facilitate students’ access to the curriculum.
* Assist in preparing the classroom, organizing materials, and checking equipment.
* Support students with encouragement and reassurance.
* Attend to students’ personal needs and promote independence.
* Implement procedures for monitoring, assessment, and recording of student progress.
* Keep accurate records of support provided, such as for provision mapping.
* Contribute to multidisciplinary discussions and reviews on students’ needs and progress.
* Participate in staff development activities.
* Supervise students during break and lunchtime as appropriate.
* Implement planned activities and undertake specific tasks with individuals or small groups.
* Liaise with primary schools to gather information to support students before Year 7.
* Familiarize with all school policies, especially Safeguarding and SEN policies.
* Maintain a flexible, can-do attitude and promote school activities internally and externally.
* Perform other duties as required.
