What You’ll Be Doing
As a graduate Mechanical Design Engineer, you will contribute to the design, development, and support of electric motors and drive systems, with a focus on reliability, safety, and performance in demanding environments. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, suppliers, and customers to deliver high-quality solutions and support product development initiatives.
Your key responsibilities will include:
* Applying core principles of mechanical and electrical engineering to support the design and analysis of electric motors, including both induction and permanent magnet types.
* Developing and applying an in-depth understanding of motor theory, drive techniques, and Eco-Design regulations relevant to modern industrial applications.
* Supporting the selection and integration of motors for use in Hazardous Area environments (e.g., ATEX or IECEx), including performing relevant design validations and risk assessments.
* Conducting engineering calculations and performance analyses using tools such as Excel, MATLAB, or similar, to evaluate thermal, mechanical, and electrical performance.
* Creating detailed 3D CAD models and 2D engineering drawings using industry-standard software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD), ensuring alignment with international standards and internal quality processes.
* Collaborating with Sales, Engineering, and Manufacturing teams to support product customisation, modification orders, and technical enquiries.
* Generating and maintaining accurate documentation, including datasheets, outline drawings, test certificates, and compliance documents.
* Working with suppliers to produce technical specifications, review design proposals, and support failure investigations and continuous improvement efforts.
* Providing engineering support to customers during project definition, installation, commissioning, and post-sales support phases.
* Assisting in the management of product lifecycle, including BOM creation, change control, and product improvement initiatives.
What We're Looking For
* A degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related discipline.
* Solid understanding of core mechanical principles, materials, manufacturing processes, and thermodynamics.
* Experience with AC Motors (ideally 2+ years)
* Proficiency in CAD design (3D and 2D), with an ability to produce clear and accurate engineering drawings.
* Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work both independently and in a collaborative team environment.
* High attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work.
* Proficient in Microsoft Office tools, particularly Excel, and comfortable working with data and calculations.
* Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey technical information clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
* Enthusiastic, self-motivated, and eager to take initiative and grow within a dynamic engineering environment.

* Hours: 08:30 – 04:30
