The Water Network Engineer will support the Water Project Management Team by applying specialist clean water expertise, hydraulic principles and network modelling to deliver key projects. The ideal candidate can diagnose network issues, identify anomalies, take ownership of solutions, and drive actions aligned to project objectives.
Key Responsibilities
* Propose and support the development of pressure and flow management schemes and be able to present a cost benefit analysis of asset management schemes to the client.
* Review and analyse available sources of data to provide a concise and clear summary of findings, propose further investigations and solutions.
* Using GIS for clean water network mapping and tracing applications – understand and identify asset information, tracing of mains, district metered areas, permit to work info layer, identifying customer impact.
* Identifying anomalies within GIS, analysing information and providing a logical solution to identifying and designing asset management solutions.
* Lead on the interrogation and analysis of logged data and use of metering software.
* Monitor and report on missing and broken assets within the network ensuring they are ‘client ready’ to asses criticality.
* Creating comprehensive standard and complex risk mitigation plans and method statements (Permit to works) for review by the Senior team. Adhering to client standards and regulations.
* Liaise regularly in person or via conference call with external stakeholders and clients including Client Engineers, suppliers and subcontractors.
* The primary liaison between Project Managers and the Network Analysts to ensure efficiency, productivity and shared knowledge across all teams.
* Planning and scheduling form part of the role whereby you will optimise the field resource to deliver all work in line with key dates and redirecting resources where required.
* Create and track project work, ensuring all briefings are conducted and the project is HSEQ compliant according to the Veriflo company standards.
* Track hours, project completions and collate all relevant information to deliver a client ready comprehensive activity summary report and de-briefing document.
* Provide in field support on project delivery as required? Eg, probes, large isolations etc. and at times conduct routine compliance audits to provide client reassurance.
* You may be required to be an active member of the Health and Safety committee and take responsibility for delivering HSEQ actions.
* The role will require you to personally Line Manage which includes conducting annual and mid year appraisals.
* You will project briefings, contingency planning, creating site specific RAMS for review.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
This is a varied technical role, suited to someone who is looking to be valued in a smaller yet rapidly growing company and would seeking an opportunity to work across multiple projects for multiple clients.
* Minimum of 5 years industry experience or in a similar transferable role
* An understanding of the distribution and trunk main network operating principles
* An understanding of hydraulic analysis using hydraulic modelling software
* Educated to degree level or equivalent qualification
* Proven experience of working within a project life cycle, either by desktop or field support
* Proficient use of Office365 and GIS
* Knowledge of district metered design and optimisation is desirable
* Practical hands‑on industry or utility knowledge
