Jacksons is part of William Jackson Food Group, a sixth‑generation family business founded in 1851. We operate five food businesses and employ over 2,000 people. Our new plant in Corby, Northamptonshire supports our ambition to be the best at what we do.
We own a historic site in Hull where we operate three bread plants and a second bakery specialising in premium roll production. We supply bread and carriers to sandwich manufacturers, foodservice and export channels and launched the consumer brand “Jackson’s of Yorkshire” in 2012.
What’s involved?
Reporting to the Manufacturing Manager, you will lead a team and embed the “Safety First” initiative. You will coach performance, drive productivity, improve quality and foster a culture of continuous improvement.
Key Areas of Responsibility
* Set an accident‑free standard and deliver on safety objectives.
* Run operations at optimal productivity, effectively managing labour.
* Consistently improve product quality and service delivery.
* Meet production schedules and optimise delivery.
* Develop Team Leaders and Operatives through learning opportunities.
* Promote continuous improvement via regular dialogue.
* Ensure strong inter‑departmental communication.
* Encourage personal ownership, accountability and a ‘Can do’ attitude.
Operational Management
* Build strong relationships across all levels.
* Drive operational excellence using KPIs and performance metrics.
* Manage the site to meet delivery dates, quality standards and reduce downtime and waste.
* Coordinate with central support functions to operate seamlessly.
* Create a culture of high performance that continually improves and challenges constructively.
Technical Risk & Compliance
* Lead exemplary health and safety behaviour.
* Ensure risk assessments and accident investigations follow company policy.
* Maintain highest food safety and quality standards, particularly HACCP systems.
* Execute the department strategy for risk and disaster recovery.
Commercial
* Understand financials of the bakery, including labour, waste and material costs.
* Work on capital expenditure proposals as required.

Qualifications And Experience
* At least 3 years’ experience in an FMCG environment, ideally bakery, with proven leadership skills.
* Degree level education or professional qualification relevant to this role.
* IOSH or NEBOSH qualification is preferred.
* Level 3 HACCP training is preferred.

Job Commitments
Location: Corby, Northamptonshire
Shift pattern: 4 on 4 off, 2 nights rotation, 2 days rotation
