Overview
The Diocese of Carlisle is seeking a lay or ordained person to inspire, encourage, and support the vocations of all people as disciples, ministers, and leaders in Cumbria. This role sits at the heart of our commitment to growing and enabling the mission of the local church as well as across our ecumenical Mission Communities.
Responsibilities
You will be responsible for building a vocational pipeline of lay and ordained leaders, enabling the growth of local people from all ages, abilities and backgrounds by:
* encouraging and equipping local leaders and teams to identify and nurture people’s gifts within their communities
* overseeing the first stage of the formal vocations process, working with colleagues and volunteers to facilitate individual discernment
* continuing the development and delivery of accessible, inclusive, and diverse formational pathways across the Diocese, with both in‑person and online offerings
Qualifications
We are seeking someone who is missionally imaginative, pastorally sensitive, and engages effectively with others across a range of traditions and contexts, and who can work independently to deliver creative and innovative programmes.
Required qualities include:
* Passionate about nurturing vocation and calling
* Experienced in enabling and equipping others to participate in the mission of God in diverse ways and places
* Skilled in developing and delivering accessible, inspiring and diverse development programmes
Benefits
This is a full‑time position of 35 hours a week. Salary £41,878 plus 15% non‑contributory pension. An ordained candidate may choose to remain in the Church of England Clergy Pension Scheme.
