Role: Management Accountant
Location: Leeds, LS15 8GB (hybrid schedule, 2-3 days a week in the office)
Salary: £38,000 - £48,000 per annum DOE, plus extensive benefits
Contract type: Permanent

Working hours: Monday - Friday, 37.5 hours per week. Core hours are 09:30 - 16:00; you can work around these to suit you. This role may include participation in an out-of-hours rota as required by the business with additional compensation for on-call periods.

Role summary: As a key member of the Finance team, the Management Accountant is responsible for delivering accurate and timely management accounts for a division of the business, with a strong focus on variance analysis and forecasting. The role supports financial planning and control through robust balance sheet reconciliations and high-quality reporting, and provides opportunities to influence and shape the finance function during a period of growth.
What you’ll be doing
* Deliver accurate and timely management accounts for a defined division, meeting all reporting deadlines
* Prepare and review accruals, prepayments and profit and loss analysis to support month-end close
* Perform variance analysis against budget and forecast, providing clear explanations and insight
* Develop and maintain cost reporting, collaborating with stakeholders to understand cost drivers and support forecasting
* Complete balance sheet and control account reconciliations, ensuring accuracy and compliance
* Prepare and submit monthly VAT returns in line with statutory requirements
* Build strong working relationships across Finance and with Cost, Commercial and Purchase Ledger teams
* Support the Finance Manager and Head of Finance with financial reporting, ad-hoc analysis and business projects
* Assist with financial year-end processes and the annual audit
* Contribute to continuous improvement by strengthening financial controls, processes and ways of working, and support the development of the wider team
Who we’re looking for
* Strong analytical and numerical skills with high accuracy and attention to detail
* Proactive, organized and able to manage competing priorities under tight deadlines
* Commercially minded with the ability to understand business drivers and challenge constructively
* Confident communicator able to build relationships with stakeholders at all levels
* Ownership and accountability for objectives and tasks from start to finish
* Adaptable and flexible, comfortable in a fast-paced and changing environment
* Experience in a highly controlled, compliant environment
* Experience supporting or leading others with a collaborative, hands-on approach
* Part-qualified or qualified (or equivalent) in ACCA, CIMA or ACA, with advanced Excel skills and experience in a finance role
