The Opportunity We have a fantastic opportunity for a permanent Assistant Geotechnical Engineer to join our Consulting Highways team, based in our Belfast office. Our 130-strong Belfast Design Hub delivers a range of local, national and international projects for clients including the Department for Infrastructure Roads, Translink, National Highways, Transport Scotland and Network Rail. Our multidisciplinary team encapsulates Highway Engineering, Bridge/Structural Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, River & Coastal Engineering, Environmental Engineering and Traffic Engineering/Transport Planning, as well as being the BIM Centre of Excellence for Amey. Recent key projects include: £1bn A66 Northern Trans-Pennine (A66 NTP) project £40m Belfast Rapid Transit (BRT) £6m Lichfield Southern Bypass Railway Bridge £5m Translink Bridge Refurbishment Package 2 £300m M8M73M74 Motorway Improvements Bridges £50m Churchill Flyover PTSI and Deconstruction Lifecycle management for the DBFO2 Network in Northern Ireland (M1, A4 and A1). £30M A565 North Liverpool Key Corridor Dualling The role Our Assistant Geotechnical Engineer will play an important part in delivering geotechnical engineering projects for our clients in NI, RoI and in England, Wales and Scotland. Responsibilities include: Being responsible for discreet geotechnical investigation and design deliverables, as well as providing support to the Senior Engineer within the design team on various design duties including: Feasibility and other technical reports including reports in accordance with CD 622 Planning, programming and cost estimation Design production Producing Specifications Surveys, inspections and construction supervision Supporting development of Graduate Engineers, Degree Apprentices and Technicians Working to programme to deliver on time and on budget Preparing technical reports (eg Feasibility/Options Reports, Assessment Reports and other technical reports) Keep up to date with your own personal development to ensure the natural growth of the team and progression with your chosen professional institution What you will bring to us: You have a Bachelors or Masters degree in an appropriate ground engineering related subject Have achieved, or are working towards, Chartered or Incorporated status as defined by the Engineering Council with a relevant professional body. Have an appreciation of technical governance procedures and how they are applied within a consulting engineering environment You can demonstrate developing experience and expertise within the relevant technical field, gained in a Graduate Engineer role or equivalent. You can contribute to the production of technically sound engineering solutions, complying with all relevant technical standards and client requirements, working under supervision. Have the ability to use relevant design software (Wallap, SlopeW etc); You are experienced in undertaking project related tasks associated with health, safety and welfare, e.g. Construction (Design and Management) Regulations You can demonstrate an understanding of technical governance procedures within a consulting engineering environment What we can offer you: At Amey, we recognise that our biggest asset is our people.
