Data Protection Apprentice Location : Peterborough Hybrid : 2 days a week to the Peterborough office Full-time (37.5 hours per week) About the role: You will assist the Data Protection Team in providing commercially focused data protection law advice, identifying data protection issues and monitoring data protection compliance. The apprenticeship provides in-depth data protection law training alongside mentoring from experienced members of the Data Protection Team and is an excellent first step for someone wanting to build a career in this area. About us: Markerstudy specialises in motor insurance and supporting services. With deep knowledge and experience, we offer competitive policies that cover both standard drivers and those with more specialist needs, such as young drivers, owners of high‑performance or imported cars, kit cars, or drivers in unusual occupations or with conviction/accident histories. We partner with UK brokers and intermediaries to tailor cover to customers’ requirements. You will: Identify, assess, and investigate data breaches, ensuring all relevant information is collected, and flag high-risk cases to the Data Protection Officer (DPO). Monitor breach trends and identify areas for improvement. Assist the Data Protection Assistant with inbox triage and support Managers/Data Protection Officer with research, projects, and other ad hoc tasks. Manage horizon scanning, intranet pages, and the creation of reports, presentations, and other documents. Monitor deadlines to ensure responses meet regulatory requirements. Collate statistics for internal reporting and assist with Data Subject Access Requests (DSARs). Continue developing knowledge across all areas of data protection. About you: A-level (or equivalent) in law, business or similar subjects Awareness of data protection law and willingness to work towards in-depth data protection law knowledge Knowledge of the insurance industry is an advantage Strong IT literacy skills, including being a confident user of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint and the ability to create clear reports to convey detailed information in a simple way (essential). Strong interpersonal skills and a 'can-do' attitude. Has good judgement, and can demonstrate commitment to high standards of ethics, regulatory compliance, customer service and business integrity. Comfortable dealing with all levels of the business and creating strong relationships with stakeholders.
