Base pay range information is provided below. This is a permanent, full-time position in the Procurement & Insurance function, located at Aston University John Cadbury House, Birmingham.
Responsibilities
* Lead the procurement of a diverse range of goods, works, and services under the direction of the Head of Procurement & Value.
* Deliver value for money, ensure regulatory compliance, and support strategic contract management.
* Maximise social value, comply with modern slavery legislation, and drive sustainability outcomes for the University.
* Manage end-to-end procurement activity, ideally in a public sector or higher education environment.
* Engage stakeholders effectively and communicate clearly to achieve procurement objectives.
* Think strategically, analyse spend data, and develop practical sourcing strategies.
* Utilise e-tendering platforms (e.g., ProContract) and contract management tools.
* Adopt a Business Partner / Critical Friend approach, providing constructive challenge to internal purchasers.
* Collaborate with the team to foster innovation, collaboration, and development.

Requirements / Qualifications
* Demonstrable experience managing end-to-end procurement activity, ideally in a public sector or higher education environment.
* Strong working knowledge of public procurement legislation and best practices.
* Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
* Commitment to delivering measurable value, quality, and compliance.
* Ability to think strategically, analyse spend data, and develop practical sourcing strategies.
* Familiarity with e-tendering platforms (e.g., ProContract) and contract management tools.
* Understanding of sustainable procurement and social value principles.
* Business Partner / Critical Friend approach with the ability to provide constructive challenge to internal purchasers.
