Grade UE02: £24,547 Per annum (pro rata for part time staff)

Information Services Group / Library and University Collections / Collections Services

Part Time: 15 hours per week

Fixed term: until 1st September 2026

The University of Edinburgh is recruiting for Shelving and Retrieval Assistants. We are seeking candidates to accurately sort, transport and re-shelve all circulated library materials in their appropriate locations within the Main Library, providing all users with quick and easy access to the resources they need. This role also involves the retrieval of physical items from Main Library collections to support other Library services including Scan & Deliver and Interlibrary Loans.

The prospective post holder must be:

* Current student at the University of Edinburgh; and residing in the UK.
* Must be a UoE student for the duration of the post and eligible to work 15hrs p/w alongside studies.
* If you already have an existing work contract with another department within the University of Edinburgh, use your University work email address when applying for this role, not your student UUN email address.

* A student from the University of Edinburgh based in the UK
* Excellent attention to detail, a high degree of accuracy and a methodical, flexible working manner.
* Demonstrable ability to recognise and interpret complex alpha-numeric sequences.
* Demonstrable ability to work alone and as part of a team.

Services and access to collections are provided online and onsite through the Main Library, site libraries, the Centre for Research Collections, award-winning makerspace services and St Cecilia's Hall Concert Room & Music Museum.
