Overview
We're seeking an experienced Homelessness & Housing Solutions Advisor to join the Housing, Communities, Environmental & Planning directorate. This hybrid role (two days per week onsite in Redditch) focuses on delivering a high-quality, customer-centred homelessness prevention and housing advice service in line with the Housing Act 1996 (Parts VI & VII) and the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017.
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver a professional homelessness and housing‑solutions service focused on prevention and relief of homelessness.
* Provide front‑line advice and triage, managing customer approaches both face‑to‑face and by telephone.
* Secure temporary accommodation in emergency homelessness cases.
* Promote self‑service options and assist customers using digital housing systems such as Redditch Home Choice.
* Administer and maintain the housing register, ensuring fair and transparent allocations.
* Support performance reporting, data analysis, and service‑improvement projects.
* Build strong relationships with private‑sector landlords, partner agencies, and internal teams to maximise housing options.
* Ensure compliance with legislation, safeguarding, data protection, and Council policy.
Essential Requirements
* Minimum 3 years' experience in homelessness, housing options, or related customer‑advice services.
* Sound knowledge of housing and homelessness legislation, including Parts VI & VII of the Housing Act and the Homelessness Reduction Act.
* Proven ability to manage complex cases with empathy, professionalism, and attention to detail.
* Confident communicator able to handle sensitive or challenging situations.
* Competent using housing‑management IT systems and digital application portals.
Onsite availability (2 days per week) in Redditch must be confirmed with candidates before submission.
