Our client, plant machinery suppliers and purchasers based in Basingstoke, are currently recruiting for Forklift Technician, Senior Forklift Engineer and Workshop Manager to join their growing team. Forklift Technician Responsibilities: Perform electrical and mechanical repairs, maintenance, and servicing on forklifts and material handling equipment. Diagnose and resolve electrical issues efficiently. Ensure all completed work meets safety and quality standards. Occasionally travel to off-site locations for service and repair work. Requirements: Strong electrical engineering experience, particularly with forklifts or similar equipment. Mechanical experience and qualifications are also important. Ability to diagnose and solve problems, especially electrical faults. Willingness to mentor and support less experienced engineers. A valid driver’s license and your own transport (location is rural). A valid driver's license and your own transport (our location is rural). Workshop Manager Responsibilities: Provide strong leadership and guidance to workshop personnel, fostering a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement. Oversee the day-to-day operations of the workshop, including scheduling, prioritising tasks, and ensuring timely completion of maintenance and repair jobs. Utilise your in-depth knowledge of forklift maintenance and material handling equipment to troubleshoot complex issues and provide technical support to the team. Maintain high standards of quality and safety in all maintenance and repair activities, adhering to industry best practices and regulatory requirements. Manage workshop inventory levels, ensuring adequate stock of parts and supplies to support maintenance operations. Collaborate with sales and service teams to meet customer needs and exceed their expectations, delivering exceptional service and support. Requirements: Minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar role within the forklift maintenance or material handling industry, though similar industries considered. Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a team. Comprehensive understanding of mechanics and maintenance procedures, including hydraulic systems, electrical systems, and engine diagnostics. Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues efficiently as part of a team. Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact confidently with customers and internal departments. Relevant technical qualifications or certifications in forklift maintenance or related field preferred, though experience is key.
