The opportunity
Expanded Structures, the specialist reinforced concrete basement, sub and superstructure frame construction division of Laing O'Rourke, is recruiting a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join the team.
We are the construction partner for National Grid's Great Grid Partnership programme, supporting infrastructure projects beyond 2030, including overhead lines, underground cabling, and substation upgrades.
Role Responsibilities:
* All Senior Quantity Surveying duties including measurement, valuation, and agreement of work sections.
* Preparation and management of interim payment applications and certifications.
* Drafting, managing, and settling subcontracts.
* Management and reporting of monthly costs.
* Drafting and preparation of claims.
* Preparation and agreement of final accounts.
* Managing trainees, assistant QS, and QS.
* Negotiating with client's representatives, sub-contractors, and other consultants.
* Advising project management on contractual implications and risks.
* Preparing and managing contract review reports, Business Plan Review information, and management accounts.
* Assisting with establishing the project budget.
* Identifying and implementing change control processes.
* Ensuring proper execution of contract documents.
* Communicating effectively to a professional standard.
* Keeping management informed of issues and risks.
Skills & Experience:
* Degree in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, Civil Engineering, or Construction Management.
* Good knowledge of cost management and sub-contracts.
* Interest in risk and opportunity management.
* Drive to learn and progress to the next level.
