Hours: Monday - Friday, 08:30 - 17:30 (1-hour unpaid lunch)
Additional: Office-based, occasional Saturdays and overtime as required
About the Role
Due to continued global growth, our client is seeking a Road Freight Operator to join their established team based in the Manchester area.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with road freight experience to join a well-established, international logistics business, supporting both import and export operations while working closely with internal departments and overseas partners.
Main Responsibilities
* Manage day-to-day Road Freight import and export operations
* Support the Operations Supervisor in delivering efficient and profitable operations
* Complete all documentation accurately and within required timeframes
* Ensure correct invoicing, including duties and VAT in line with procedures
* Liaise with overseas offices, clients and internal teams
* Raise jobs, prepare quotations and manage shipment progress
* Maintain strong relationships with clients and internal departments
* Assist with audits, inspections and collections where required
* Support credit control with outstanding payments
* Monitor and follow up on late payments
* Ensure all operational and financial activities meet company procedures
* Maintain and update SOPs where required
* Identify and report new business leads to the sales team
* Ensure all reports and system updates are completed on time
* Provide cover for holidays and sickness when needed
Skills & Experience Required
* Minimum 1 year experience within Road Freight operations
* Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks
* Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
* Good communication skills, both written and verbal
* IT literate (Microsoft Office and operational systems)
* Strong attention to detail and analytical mindset
* Administrative experience within a logistics environment preferred
