Job Role: Mechanical Engineer
Location: HMP Huntercombe (RG9)
Salary: £41,818.21 (+ an additional 5% basic salary in recognition of shift and weekend working)
Contract: Full time - Perm
We are seeking a dedicated Mechanical Engineer to join our team at HMP Huntercombe, a category C male prison.

HMP Huntercombe functions like a self-contained city, requiring hundreds of staff to ensure smooth operations. Our Facilities Maintenance Team is committed to maintaining safe and efficient operations, impacting prisoners, staff, visitors, and the wider community.
As a Mechanical Engineer, you will collaborate with experienced colleagues including Plumbers, Electricians, Carpenters, Painters, Cleaners, and Administrators, all dedicated to providing a safe, secure environment.

We are a Ministry of Justice business providing critical, time-sensitive services to HMPPS. The ideal candidate will have:
1. At least two years' experience as a plumber or similar role
2. Knowledge of Water Supply Regulation and Legionella L8 requirements
3. Experience with commercial or industrial heating and water systems
4. Understanding of health and safety standards
5. Qualifications: C&G 6035 (Plumbing), C&G 6189 (Plumbing and Heating), NVQ Level 3 in Plumbing, or equivalent
6. Strong organisational, time management, and interpersonal skills
