The Role
This is a unique opportunity to be at the forefront of a brand-new approach to landlord engagement, tenancy sustainment, and personalised housing support. As a PRS (private renting sector) Liaison Worker, you’ll play a vital role in helping people take the next step in their housing journey, moving from uncertainty into safe, secure, and affordable homes.
What You’ll Do
* Build strong partnerships: Develop and maintain positive relationships with private rented sector (PRS) landlords, SEAL, and housing partners to open doors to new housing opportunities.
* Promote landlord assurance: Champion an innovative Landlord Assurance Package designed to give landlords confidence while increasing access to safe, affordable homes.
* Match residents to homes: Use clear tenancy-readiness criteria to connect residents with properties that meet their needs and set them up for success.
* Support every step of the journey: Guide residents through viewings, move-in processes, and the crucial early stages of their tenancy.
* Provide ongoing sustainment support: Offer up to 12 months of light-touch tenancy sustainment, ensuring residents feel supported and confident in their new homes.
* Prevent tenancy breakdowns: Step in early to resolve issues, working proactively to protect tenancies and reduce the risk of homelessness.
* Collaborate across agencies: Work closely with Southend City Council, Greater Change, and other partners to deliver joined-up housing solutions.
* Gather insights for innovation: Collect data and feedback to evaluate this pioneering pilot project, helping shape future housing strategies.
What You’ll Need
We’re looking for someone who is:
* Relationship-focused: Confident in engaging landlords and building trust across diverse housing networks.
* Experienced: Background in housing, lettings, homelessness support, or other people-focused roles.
* Problem solver: Skilled at negotiation, conflict resolution, and responding quickly to emerging challenges.
* Knowledgeable: Understanding of tenancy rights, affordability, and the barriers faced by people moving on from homelessness.
* Compassionate and professional: Committed to trauma-informed, person-centred practice.
* Organised and resilient: Able to manage a varied workload across multiple properties with energy and focus.
The Package
* 12-month fixed term contract (potential for extension)
* Salary £27,054 (rising incrementally to £29,357)
