Offer description

Don’t play with food! | Mammafiore

When we were little, our mother always told us: \"Don’t play with your food.\" And since you should always listen to your moms, we took it so seriously that we decided to dedicate ourselves to gastronomy. To care for it, respect it, love it, and share it.

That’s why at Mammafiore we want to pay tribute to our roots. To what unites us and makes us who we are. To food that, besides filling our senses with sensations, floods us with emotions.

At Mammafiore, we are obsessed with offering the highest quality products, the fastest delivery, and we stand out for the professionalism and commitment of our team of specialists.

At Grupo Mammafiore, we are looking for an Operations Manager to join our team of passionate food and wine lovers!

About the role:

* Oversee and optimize day-to-day activities, including procurement, warehousing, logistics, and distribution.
* Ensure timely deliveries and adherence to quality standards in customer service.
* Monitor workflows and identify areas for improvement to enhance operational efficiency.
* Lead cost stewardship across warehousing, transportation, and intralogistics (forklifts/MHE, maintenance, energy), driving a sustained reduction in cost-to-serve while protecting service levels.
* Champion end-to-end digitalisation (WMS, ERP/Business Central, handheld scanning, EDI/TMS, Power BI dashboards) to ensure real-time visibility, data integrity, and decision speed.
* Establish FEFO discipline and slotting/ABC-XYZ practices to improve picking productivity, inventory turns, and waste reduction.
* Coordinate suppliers and procurement operations to ensure product availability and optimal inventory management.
* Implement innovative solutions for logistics management, reducing costs and empty miles and improving vehicle utilization, fleet right-sizing, response times, cross-dock rhythms and transfer loads.
* Ensure cold-chain integrity across ambient/chilled/frozen with proactive temperature monitoring, traceability, and recall readiness.
* Lead the recruitment process for the logistics team, including drivers and warehouse operatives.
* Supervise and coordinate operational teams (warehouse staff, drivers, logistics managers).
* Plan work schedules and optimize human resources to ensure maximum efficiency.
* Foster a company culture focused on quality, safety, and teamwork.
* Institutionalise Continuous Improvement (Lean basics, Gemba walks, Kaizen), linking ideas to quantified savings and KPI uplift.
* Analyze and track key operational KPIs (e.g., OTIF/DIFOT, pick accuracy, waste/shrink, inventory accuracy, dock-to-stock, MHE utilisation, labour productivity, and cost-to-serve).
* Act as system process owner for WMS/ERP in the UK: clean master data, standardised SOPs, and user training; partner with HQ on enhancements.
* Build operational reports and automated dashboards (Power BI) for real-time control-towers (service, cost, quality), including early-warning alerts on exceptions, and propose solutions to improve performance.
* Implement procedures to ensure compliance with current regulations and safety standards.
* Align UK operations with Group strategy (“One Mammafiore Way”): translate global standards into local SOPs, standardise with Central Ops (Procurement, Supply Chain, Quality, IT), and maintain controlled, audited documentation.
* Ensure compliance with hygiene and sanitation regulations applicable to foodproducts.
* Implement workplace safety measures, minimizing risks and incidents.
* Conduct regular internal audits to verify compliance with company policies.
* Collaborate with management to introduce new technologies or processes aimed at improving productivity.
* Promote sustainability initiatives, such as waste reduction or the use of eco-friendly materials.

Who are we looking for:

* At least 5-7 years in operational or managerial roles, preferably in food distribution or logistics.
* Degree in industrial engineering, logistics, economics, or related fields (preferred but not mandatory).
* Knowledge of supply chain processes, warehouse management, and distribution logistics. Proficiency in Advanced Excel, Power BI, ERP, WMS/TMS (RF, GS1/SSCC, wave/zone, FEFO/lot), route optimisation/telematics (ePOD/e-CMR), and EDI/API integrations.
* Coordination of operational teams and foster a positive work environment.
* Strong data-driven approach to monitor and improve operational performance.
* Familiarity with food safety, workplace safety, and hygiene regulations.
* Fluent English (mandatory); Proficiency in Italian; Spanish is a nice-to-have for cross-country collaboration with Central teams.
* Problem-solving and results-oriented approach.
* Adaptability to a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
* Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
* Proactive mindset and ability to manage stress effectively.
