Job summary

A fantastic opportunity has arisen to appoint a Band 4 Occupational Therapy Technical Instructor to join our passionate and dedicated inpatient stroke rehabilitation team based in Deeside Community Hospital. Our team aims to maximise an individual's abilities, focusing on patient-centred goals, while enabling a safe discharge from hospital. With excellent MDT working and strong links with community colleagues, our friendly team supports patient flow and ensures smooth transitions between hospital and community settings. This post is ideal for someone with excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and experience as an Occupational Therapy assistant with the necessary qualifications, starting at Band 4.

As an Occupational Therapy Technical Instructor, you will hold a clinical and ward-based caseload in stroke rehabilitation, lead discharge planning, and conduct access visits in the community under the supervision of a qualified occupational therapist.


Main duties of the job

1. Clinical Support and Patient Care
2. Assist therapists in delivering high standards of patient care according to treatment plans devised by Occupational Therapists.
3. Engage in patient treatment, providing support and ensuring therapy sessions are conducted safely and effectively.
4. Demonstrate and issue daily living equipment prescribed by an Occupational Therapist, ensuring patient understanding and confidence in its use.
5. Assist in assessing patient progress and report findings to facilitate ongoing treatment planning.
6. Administrative Duties
7. Manage diaries, stock, and patient records efficiently.
8. Team Collaboration
9. Work as part of the multidisciplinary team, participate in team meetings and MDTs.
10. Education and Training
11. Engage in professional development, team training, and support new team members.
12. Quality Improvement
13. Contribute to service development, identify improvement areas, and stay updated with evidence-based practices.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally encouraged to apply.
