About the role
We are seeking a proactive, people‑focused Advertising and Sponsorship Officer to join our Communications Team on a 12‑month interim contract. This role blends stakeholder management, sales, marketing, policy, relationship‑building and strategic thinking, offering the chance to create real impact across Sheffield.
Key responsibilities
* Build and maintain a strong network of contacts, both internally and externally.
* Convert leads into successful advertising and sponsorship opportunities.
* Manage advertising activity end‑to‑end, working with design and web teams.
* Monitor, report and forecast revenue.
* Ensure all activity meets Council policy, procurement and legislative requirements.
* Support the development of advertising and sponsorship policy.
* Contribute positively to the culture of the Communications Team.
* Engage across multiple platforms – website, intranet, social media, bulk email, outdoor media, publications and filming opportunities – to identify new commercial opportunities and align activity with policy and Council priorities.

Experience and knowledge
* Experience in advertising, sponsorship or sales.
* Proven track record of generating revenue and meeting targets.
* Ability to identify and convert new opportunities.
* Understanding of local government issues and constraints.
* Familiarity with advertising and sponsorship codes (e.g. CAP Code).

Working hours and pay
Full‑time employees work 37 hours for 52 weeks of the year and we offer a generous holiday entitlement. We are open to discussions about flexible working opportunities, including reduced‑hour contracts, part‑time or job‑share arrangements. Your starting salary will be at the bottom of the Grade, with a possibility to start higher if you can provide evidence that your basic pay is above this level. All roles are undergoing an evaluation process that may result in pay adjustments from 2026.
