Job Description:
NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is one of the largest healthcare systems in the UK, employing around 40,000 staff across various clinical and non-clinical roles. We provide acute hospital, primary, community, and mental health services to over 1.15 million people in our region, expanding to 2.2 million when including regional and national services.
We have two full-time, permanent positions available for 37 hours per week, with a rotational shift pattern from Monday to Sunday.
Following a recent retirement, an exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Emergency Department at the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Paisley as a Band 3 Health Care Support Worker (HCSW).
The Emergency Department is a dynamic environment. We seek highly motivated and enthusiastic HCSWs to join our team. Successful candidates should work well within a multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care. Clinical experience and knowledge are desirable, but transferable skills from other nursing support backgrounds will also be considered.
Applicants should have previous ward-based healthcare support experience at Band 2/3, with a track record of professional development. Skills in vital sign recording, ECG recording, and phlebotomy are advantageous but not essential. The ability to work independently, flexibly, and under pressure is crucial, along with strong workload prioritization skills. Previous hospital or caring experience is essential. Support will be provided through induction, ECG training, venepuncture, and cannulation training if needed. A commitment to professional development is expected.
High professional standards and excellent communication skills are required. We seek self-motivated individuals eager to develop their clinical skills within a supportive department with strong leadership.
