An exciting opportunity has arisen within our head office team for a new Risk and Compliance Assistance Officer role. The role will be to support the legal and compliance functions by assisting in the development, implementation, and monitoring of regulatory compliance programs, risk management strategies, and internal policies. This role plays a critical part in ensuring the organisation adheres to applicable laws, regulations, and internal procedures while reducing legal risk.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist with the creation, maintenance, and review of company policies, procedures, and compliance documentation.
Monitor changes in relevant legislation and regulatory requirements and support internal communication and implementation of those changes.
Conduct legal and regulatory research and prepare summaries or reports for internal use.
Assist with the preparation and submission of regulatory filings and responses to government or regulatory inquiries.
Support compliance audits and internal investigations, including gathering documentation and coordinating interviews.
Maintain records of compliance activities, including complaints, investigations, and corrective actions.
Coordinate and maintain corporate filings, business licenses, and registrations.
Prepare, review, and maintain contracts, NDAs, and other legal documents.
Help develop and deliver compliance training materials to employees.
Work closely with cross-functional departments (HR, Finance, Operations) to address risk and compliance concerns.
Support data privacy initiatives, such as GDPR or CCPA compliance, if applicable.
Perform administrative tasks for the legal and compliance departments as needed.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience:
1+ years of experience in a legal, compliance, or risk management environment, preferably within a corporate legal department (In house) or law firm.
Working knowledge of the legal and regulatory obligations (Money Laundering Regulations, FCA, and the SRA Handbook).
Skills and Competencies:
Strong understanding of legal and regulatory frameworks, particularly in areas like corporate governance, data privacy, and financial compliance.
Excellent legal research, writing, and organisational skills.
Attention to detail and ability to handle confidential information with integrity.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with legal or compliance software (LexisNexis, Practical Law) is a plus.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in Law.
Experience with risk assessments and risk mitigation strategies.
Familiarity with industry-specific regulations (Financial Services).
