We're on a mission to develop super-resolution technology for anyone who wants to use it. Our Nanoimager microscope is already playing an important part in this, but we can always innovate & improve. Appointing a Director, Hardware, will ensure we are delivering the best possible microscopy hardware products to our customers, and identifying technology opportunities for us to explore. You're already proven at designing, developing and launching commercially successful systems in the Life Science tools space, built on complex optical and fluidic design. Whilst you're likely an accomplished engineer in your own right, it's the team you've built and led around you which has delivered these systems. You've done all this whilst remaining aligned to the company-wide commercial strategy, which you've contributed to by addressing customer issues, and proposing new features to improve systems. Reporting to our newly appointed CEO, Paul Scagnetti, your responsibilities will include: Owning the execution of ONI's hardware strategy, devised in collaboration with the rest of the management team Utilising optical and fluidic product design expertise to conceive of and realise novel integrations and products to our hardware portfolio Designing and implementing improvements on existing hardware products with a regular cadence, in line with commercial strategy Designing and building the hardware team with attention to job design, technical deliverables, and s to support hiring and assessments Aligning your team on the hardware strategy and overall company goals, and executing and delivering on the product roadmap Leading the conceptualisation, prototyping and development of new hardware products in alignment with overall commercial strategy Developing targets and KPIs to drive a high-performance culture within the function, from performance reviews to team expansion, which is currently at 5 and expected to increase to 8 To be successful in this role, you will need to be as passionate about developing complex research tools, as you are the purpose of the product and the team you are leading to achieve this purpose. You will work closely with our customer-facing teams and internal product improvement teams to identify and action improvements to the system, alongside manufacturing to ensure a seamless transition from benchtop to production. You'll be as comfortable at 20 nanometers as you are at 30,000 feet, delivering solutions that will have a lasting impact on the functionality of our Nanoimager system, as well as incorporating improvements to the optical, fluidic, mechanical, and electronic components of the device. If you're as excited about improving the customer experience as you are about developing new research technologies, then we should be talking, which you can start by applying here.
