The post holder will be an experienced anaesthetic practitioner with a passion for Anaesthetic standards and education. They need to be able to effectively manage a team, providing clinical leadership and management support to meet standards, objectives, and targets.
As a clinical expert, the post holder will also provide care within their professional boundaries, creating a safe environment that fosters innovative approaches to improve patient care quality. They will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to meet patient needs, support policy and procedure delivery, and work closely with senior management.
The role involves developing, motivating, and empowering staff to ensure high clinical competence and teaching standards are maintained. Excellence and innovation in delivering safe, high-quality patient care are essential. The post holder will work effectively with teams outside of theatres to optimize the patient journey, maintain regular contact with children and families, and act as a professional role model in theatres, ensuring a family-friendly environment and partnership-based care.
Key responsibilities include:
1. Providing effective management and leadership to promote high standards of safe, evidence-based clinical care.
2. Monitoring care quality through audits and contributing to quality indicators and dashboards.
3. Leading a team of registered and non-registered staff, supporting compliance with national frameworks, guidelines, and safety alerts.
4. Acting as lead practitioner for specific specialties, coordinating staff, resources, and skills management efficiently while providing expert assistance.
