Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant – Primary SEMH
Location: North Kent
Start Date: ASAP / Ongoing
Contract: Full-time (term-time)
We are seeking a dedicated and resilient SEN Teaching Assistant to support primary-aged pupils with SEMH (Social, Emotional & Mental Health needs) across specialist and alternative provision settings in the North Kent area.
The Role:
1. Provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with SEMH needs
2. Support emotional regulation, behaviour management and engagement in learning
3. Implement behaviour plans and positive intervention strategies
4. Build strong, consistent relationships with pupils who may display challenging behaviour
5. Work closely with teachers, SENCOs and pastoral teams
Requirements:
6. Experience working with primary-aged children with SEMH needs
7. Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills
8. Calm, patient and resilient approach
9. Background in PRU, alternative provision, SEN schools or youth work desirable
10. Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willing to apply)
