Job Overview
We have an exciting opportunity for a Band 3 Health Care Assistant in the Assessment and Rehabilitation Day Unit. The ARDU is part of the Department for Medicine of the older people and stroke, a busy Outpatient Department that holds a diverse range of clinics. These range from: Metabolic Bone Disease, Osteoporosis, Movement Disorders, Stroke, Psychology, Physiotherapy, Falls and General Medicine.
This post is part-time Monday - Wednesday 9am - 5 pm.
The applicant must demonstrate a willingness and capability to undertake NVQ level 3.

Detailed Job Description And Main Responsibilities
Main responsibilities include carrying out patient observations, venepuncture, safe removal of IV cannulae, chaperoning consultants in clinic and organising and co‑ordinating relevant patient scans such as MRI/CT/Doppler.
Excellent communication skills are essential as the ideal candidate will be the first point of contact for patient telephone queries and ensuring patients' appointment attendance is confirmed. The ideal candidate will liaise with multiple members of the MDT to ensure the patient's journey through the clinics is as smooth as can be.
Previous outpatient experience is essential and a willingness to work towards Band 3 clinical skills such as venepuncture/cannulation/ECG recording/blood pressures/stock taking is also essential.

Essential Criteria

* Care for patients' property, including valuables, in accordance with Trust policy.
* Obtain demographic details and social history from patients/visitors to assist in the admission process.
* Provide support and assistance to new and junior members of staff.
