Are you an engineering student passionate about innovation and sustainability? This Year in Industry placement offers a unique opportunity to work across both Future Technology and Mechanical Engineering teams, contributing to cutting-edge projects in high-temperature heat pump development and advanced thermal systems. You’ll support experimental testing, analyse performance data, refine system models, and help shape sustainable solutions in the energy and decarbonisation sector. Alongside this, you’ll gain hands-on experience in system design, component specification, technical documentation, and stakeholder collaboration. Ideal for students with a curious mindset, strong analytical thinking, and a drive to make a real impact, this placement equips you with practical engineering skills, project management experience, and exposure to strategic technology development—preparing you for a future in innovative, customer-focused engineering.

What you will do
During the scheme you’ll have the opportunity to take on meaningful work while connecting with experienced and supportive colleagues across the business. You’ll also join our Early Careers network, including Global Graduates and Apprentices. You’ll work across multiple teams and contribute to projects in areas such as engineering design, testing, and process improvement, with a focus on sustainability and energy efficiency.

If you are currently studying a Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree with a requirement to complete a work placement we want to hear from you.
Placement details
Year in Industry Programme for an exciting journey, working alongside 10,000+ colleagues across 67 countries. No matter your interest, we want to hear from you. Applicants must be taking part in an agreed University placement scheme and have the right to work in the UK without sponsorship, full-time, for the duration of the 12-month placement (July 2026 until July 2027).
